Hina Circles are guided moʻolelo (cultural story-based) workshops that discuss Hina, Hawaiian moon cycles and their relation to our own phases of life.
Background
Our design team, in collaboration with Ka Mahina Project's (KMP) founders Hiʻilani and Talia, successfully launched a product in under a month, producing over $10,000 in revenue within the first week.
The product, Hina Circles, is a moʻolelo-based workshop series that needed to be scalable, intuitive for staff, and life-changing for users, while also demonstrating the potential to attract a premium price point despite a lack of proven track record.
User Profile
KMP's existing community, primarily composed of female users from Hawaii, provided a ready market.
Feedback from the userbase revealed an interest in Hawaiian cultural and mythological insights and a desire to improve their ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) skills.
Development & Marketing
Our tech stack, centered around user-friendly platforms like Mighty Networks and Zoom, along with automation tools like Zapier and GMail, was carefully constructed to facilitate seamless workshop sessions and onboarding.
The marketing strategy hinged on a mobile-first design for the Hina Circles landing page, optimization of user engagement using Hotjar and social proof through the Proof plugin. PayPal and Stripe were used for transactions.
Results & Future Steps
We oversold the initial Hina Circles cohort, resulting in impressive stats:
1780 page visits
48 add to cart actions
19 purchases (1.1% conversion rate).
Looking ahead, we aim to gather customer feedback, further understand our audience, and leverage these insights to enhance the user experience and marketing efforts for the second cohort.
